U.N. SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS (SDGs)

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 target goals created by the United Nations in 2015. The SDGs are the current working standard for contextualizing, measuring, and pursuing positive impact.

They are the roadmap for global development through 2030. Many investors, fund managers, corporations, and governmental bodies are using the SDGs to identify the merits of their goals and initiatives. The SDGs give corporations the ability to redefine profit as positive global impact instead of solely as financial return.

Themes of the 17 SDGs are wide-ranging; focuses explore improving gender and racial equity, reducing poverty, increasing access to education, and addressing climate change.

At Centered Wealth, we use the targets set by the SDGs to inform our investment decisions. Oftentimes, ESG and Impact investments will directly reference how that particular investment relates to a few of the SDGs. Having this shared language and vision gives everyone involved in sustainability, from investors to corporations to governments to non-profits, a collective vision of a peaceful, healthy, and prosperous globe that is attainable and actionable.
